Affordability
The cost of electricity is also a major priority. The main drivers of these cost increases
are state policies that mandate electrification, subsidize inefficient solar and wind, and
seek to eliminate natural gas. Power production in upstate New York is already almost
NINETY PERCENT zero emission; it is downstate is almost completely powered by
greenhouse gas-emitting sources. 1 Yet all-electric mandates and future bans on natural
gas are being foisted on us to fix a problem downstate.
New York State is the highest taxed state in the nation. 2 Our income tax is high, sales
taxes are high, and property taxes are often unbearable, especially for seniors. The
state must do more to help with property taxes. I will have more to say about that as the
campaign develops, so stay tuned.
Public Safety and Support for Law Enforcement
New York State has passed a wide variety of laws that hurt public safety. From bail
reform to ‘Raise the Age” and efforts to defund the police, New York City progressives
are telling us how to run our cities and towns. I have been and always will be on the
side of our law enforcement officers and will vote against any bill that seeks to inhibit
their ability to keep us safe.
Good Government
All levels of government must have the confidence of the average citizen. Career
politicians have no place in this. I will sponsor a constitutional amendment to institute
term limits at the state level. A constitutional amendment means that that will be a public
referendum so that YOU will get to decide. I implemented term limits on myself in West
Seneca and I will fight for them in the state.
WNY values
All of the issues above share one characteristic – they are issues that are important to
Western New Yorkers but we are being dictated to by New York City progressives. We
need an Assemblymember who votes for OUR values.
